Dear readers -
It is the year 2025. When are we going to have flying cars? Instead we have the Tesla Truck.
I hope you had a great 2024.
Here’s what I’m looking forward to in ‘25.
How am I approaching 2025?
More intention and thought. Listening. Observing. Breathing.
Maximizing the calendar year. Jesse Itzler has his Big A## Calendar where he maps out his year and epic adventures. I want more of that.
Daily diary, book of creative ideas. I’ve been writing more on paper lately and have really enjoyed it. Along with my creative notebook, I am going to log each day.
Reading daily. I used to love reading and it has taken a back seat for too long. Watch out world!
Continue to write: this newsletter and my action-bollywood-kung fu-zombie screenplay. I’m also toying with the idea of writing something about kindness and leadership.
I want to upgrade my record player. Open to suggestions!
Invest in health. Sleep, diet, exercise, weight, mental, etc. I got an Oura ring for Christmas and I love it. Plus, I’ve got some mileage on me, gotta take care of myself.
Photography. Similar to reading, I have detoured from something I love. I have all my camera gear out. Check out some of my stuff.
Collaborations. I want to work with people I admire. People I can learn from. People that think differently. And I want to produce things fueled by authenticity.
Classes. Is this the year I get closer to becoming a pasty chef? A hip hop dancer? Learn how to write a screenplay? You’re gonna have to wait and see!
Volunteer. This past year, I joined the board of a Montessori School and became a Hospice Care volunteer. Both very different but fulfilling experiences. More of this.
More museums. Visting the Andy Warhol Museum this past year was a bucket list item and served as a reminder that I love museums. ‘nuff said.
Write letters. I have stationery ready to go and some somewhat legible handwriting. Bringing back something old school. HMU if you want me to send you something.
Shoot my shot. Life is short and I am going for it. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I got rejected in 2024 - jobs, reaching out to people, pitching things, you name it. And you know what? Don’t care.
I am planning on more rejections in 2025. But also a bunch of cool and epic wins.
Things I’m excited about in 2025
Grand Theft Auto VI. The last edition of this video game came out like 15 years ago or something, so the anticipation has been building. This is one of the greatest games ever, so expect me to go pretty quiet when this launches later in the year.
White Lotus S3 (HBO). The first two seasons were exceptional. Ready for some scenic Thailand!
Paddington in Peru. We are big Paddington fans in my household. And why not? London, marmalade and a cute bear.
28 Years Later. Always ready for a zombie flick, especially when it is part of the 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later franchise.
F1. A few things happening here.
The 2025 season could be won by 3-4 different teams.
Sir Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari red!
The movie, F1 gets released.
And, is this the year the sport peaks? After years of Netflix, massive corporate investment and a Brad Pitt movie - can it keep getting better? Dunno.
Valentine’s Day, July 4th and Halloween are all on a Friday this year.
Oasis Reunion Tour. Can the Gallagher brothers keep it together?
Kiefer/Van Gogh. Vincent van Gogh meets Anselm Kiefer next summer in an exhibition pairing a Post-Impressionist pioneer with a modern-day giant. Expect big ideas, bold works, and a few surprises—Kiefer’s never-before-seen pieces included. Pack your bags for Amsterdam and London!
March 14: Total lunar eclipse!
I leave you with the celebrations in China yesterday. Kinda makes the ball dropping seem a little lame. But they don’t have Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, so evens.
I hope you all have a wonderful 2025. Sending positive vibes.
Much love, Daniel
Happy new year!!
That was so cool to see the photo of the Scroll by Kerouac. John Clark was looking over my shoulder and he spied it immediately. One of his claims to fame was getting interviewed (Chris L) and photographed (Frank) by The Star about his extensive Kerouac collection when the scroll was on display.
