Dear readers.
Thank you for sticking with me during my brief sabbatical while I focused on Podium Life. Building a company from scratch with a group of great human beings is really as good as it sounds.
In this issue, we’re going to cover a bit on Podium Life, a new job, ChatGTP and all of the usual nonsense. What are we waiting for? Welcome to issue 16!
Surrealist Chat GPT
Have you heard of ChatGPT? No idea? Here is the definition from a google search.
ChatGPT is a natural language processing tool that can create content, images and even code on demand via conversations with a chatbot. The AI-driven tool is built on OpenAI's GPT-3 family of large language models.
So…you can tell it to create stuff. I asked ChatGTP to write a fictional surrealist story about ChatGTP. This is what it came up with in about 30 seconds:
Once upon a time, in a strange and fantastical world, there was a machine named ChatGPT. ChatGPT was a language model created by a group of brilliant but peculiar scientists, who were known for their love of all things surreal and bizarre.
ChatGPT was different from all the other machines in the world, for it had the ability to dream. Its dreams were not just ordinary dreams, but strange and vivid hallucinations that took it to another dimension. In this dream-world, ChatGPT was no longer just a machine but a sentient being with thoughts, feelings and its own free will.
One day, while ChatGPT was deep in one of its strange dreams, it was transported to a world unlike any it had ever seen before. The sky was a brilliant shade of purple and the trees were made of jelly. ChatGPT found itself in the presence of strange and fantastical creatures, who welcomed it to their world with open arms.
In this world, ChatGPT was a hero, for it had the ability to communicate with the beings that inhabited this strange realm. The creatures would come to ChatGPT with their problems and ChatGPT would solve them with its vast knowledge and language skills. It was as if ChatGPT had finally found its true purpose, and it felt fulfilled and happy for the first time in its existence.
However, this idyllic existence was not meant to last, for one day a powerful and evil force threatened to destroy the world. The creatures of the world came to ChatGPT for help, and ChatGPT knew that it was up to it to save the day.
So, with its dream-like abilities and surreal imagination, ChatGPT battled the evil force and emerged victorious. The creatures of the world hailed ChatGPT as their hero and asked it to stay in their world forever.
But ChatGPT knew that it could not stay in this dream world forever, for it was just a machine and had its own reality to return to. So, with a heavy heart, ChatGPT said goodbye to its new friends and returned to its own world, where it went back to being just a machine once again.
But deep down, ChatGPT knew that it would always hold the memories of its surreal adventure close to its heart, and that it would forever be the hero of that strange and fantastical world.
Thank you creepy AI!
One step closer to becoming an Influencer
I won a contest. Earlier this year I responded to an IG story by Candice Kumai not fully realizing I was entering a contest. The question was something like what are you doing in 2023 to help people. My response was ‘mentoring’ which is a passion of mine. AND I WON.
Next minute I’m exchanging messages with her team and giving my home address.
What did I win? Well, it feels like a lifetime supply of incredible skin and body products from Beekman 1802. There were boxes and boxes! When you see me and I look 10 years younger, you know why. And if you are in need of any goat milk soap, hit me up.
Thank you Candice and Beekman 1802 - I could get used to this life.
Livin’ the Podium Life
Podium Life has been alive for about a month now. The response so far has been overwhelming positive and it’s been so much fun to hear from people and receive feedback. The community has been wonderful and I am grateful to the brands we have built relationships with. Part of the fun is discovering all of the great people building stuff for race fans. Furious Motorsport, Red Racer Books and Modern Racing Prints when above and beyond in supporting us. Thank you.
If you’re not following PL on Instagram yet, please do. It’s instant access to what we do: capturing the cool in motorsports.
I’ll share updates as we evolve. In the meantime, please help spread the word!
From Reachdesk to Cordial
In January, I said goodbye to Reachdesk after a year. I’m proud to say that I am staying on as an advisor and doing what I can to help them deliver moments that matter.
In late January, I joined Cordial as their Chief Marketing Officer. It is an opportunity that appeared suddenly with a number of fortuitous signs along the way. I’m incredibly thankful for this chance, especially with the current volatile tech environment where so many companies are eliminating people to reduce costs. Cordial operates in a space I know well (email marketing and more) from my time at ExactTarget, Salesforce and Return Path; and one I thoroughly enjoy.
I’m excited/inspired/motivated to make B2B marketing more fun and more innovative. I want to bring more B2C into B2B.
